As we enter our first Sunday without public Mass, I wish to express that everyone is being remembered by me in prayer during this challenging time. Although, we will not have public Mass please know that you can go to St. Michael Parish Auburn, Alabama Facebook page. We will be streaming the private Mass celebrated on Saturdays and Sundays at 10:30 AM and Monday – Friday Daily Masses at 12:30PM. During the celebration of private Mass, we must lock the sanctuary for that brief time. Outside of that please know that the church is open for private prayer daily from 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM and the Frassati Chapel is open 24/7 as always. As you know, the governor is recommending the continuation of social distancing and please respect that if you come for private prayer or Confession. Again, Confessions times have been changed to Monday – Friday from 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM and Saturday from 8:00 AM- 9:00 AM to allow for social distancing. Stations of the Cross will be streamed on Facebook at 3:00 PM on Fridays.
Obviously, if you have difficulty viewing our live stream of Mass there are a variety available on the internet. Please refer to our website for a list of additional opportunities. Also, as Catholics we have a devotion to our Blessed Mother, and this is a time in which we should continue to invoke her intercession for this pandemic to end. As a personal devotion I always ask for her intercession under her great title Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception. Under that great title she is the patron of the United States and the Archdiocese of Mobile as well as her title of Our Lady of Divine Love which is a devotion to her in Rome, Italy which the citizens prayed to for the protection of Rome since the 1600’s.
Finally, keep trying to laugh and find humor in daily life. And as the country singer, Alan Jackson’s song stated following 9-11 attacks, maybe it is time to watch an episode of
I Love Lucy with your family. So, let’s keep each other in prayer and especially those with COVID-19 and our health care workers who truly are demonstrating self-sacrifice for others.
