The Sacrament of Marriage is a covenant between a husband and wife. This covenant is a permanent union of persons capable of knowing and loving each other and God.
The grace of this Sacrament perfects the love of husband and wife, binds them together in fidelity, and helps them welcome and care for children. Christ is the source of this grace and he dwells with the spouses to strengthen their covenant promises, to bear each other's burdens with forgiveness and kindness, and to experience ahead of time the "wedding feast of the Lamb" (Rev 19:9).
Couples planning to be married should first confirm a date and location with a priest. Then, they should notify the parish office and receive and complete paperwork and return with a deposit to secure the date. Here at St. Michael, we do not schedule weddings on the First Saturday of the month or during the season of Lent.
It is recommended that you secure your date at least six months in advance of their wedding date to ensure adequate time to make arrangements and to complete the required sacramental marriage preparation program. For more information about the marriage preparation program, contact our priests.
After a date is secured, our wedding coordinator will contact the bride for further discussion and planning.
This is a weekend spent with other engaged couples. Couples dialogue privately with each other on all aspects of married life. Engaged Encounter or a similar program is required for all couples getting married in the Archdiocese of Mobile. Contact our priests for more information.
