Every measure currently in place has been approved by church leadership and allows us to meet back in person. Without proper following of protocol, we will not be able to meet! Please be sure that you are stressing the importance of proper social distancing and personal hygiene--both during CYO and outside of church activities--to your children to allow us to slow the spread of the coronavirus.
Each of these protocols will be put into place for all events planned for both high school and middle school youth.
Teens, volunteers, and chaperones must wear protective masks when in the large group setting (and while serving food) and will be allowed to take masks off only when the group is able to spread more than 6 feet apart.
Only registered youth group members will be able to attend events (students can register throughout the year). Alongside usual registration forms, parents/guardians must sign a waiver acknowledging pandemic risks, available on the parish website or in the parish office (available in English or Spanish).
At the time of drop off, each participant’s temperature will be checked. No child or chaperone with fever or other symptoms of sickness will be allowed to participate in any event.
Social distancing will be enforced for all participants before, during, and after each event. Families will not be allowed to congregate outside of designated drop off areas of each event, and social distancing will be enforced.
Following CDC guidelines, hand washing with soap and water will be required often throughout the event. Sanitary wipes and hand sanitizer will be made easily available for additional disinfection.
Any teen or chaperone who develops a fever or other symptoms during the day will immediately be quarantined from the group and sent home as quickly as possible. Parents of teens will acknowledge in waiver that they (or one of three emergency contacts) will promptly pick up their child if symptoms surface. Anyone sent home with symptoms cannot return without proper medical clearing.
News sources will be closely monitored concerning COVID-19 cases in Lee and all other counties in which day events are planned to take place. If any of these areas experience a significant rise in cases, attendance for these events will be reevaluated for the safety of all youth group participants and chaperones.
SPECIFIC TO OFF-SITE TRIPS AND EVENTS
Each individual household is responsible for the transportation to and from events, including CYO/JCYO Nights. Carpooling with chaperones will not be allowed.
Teens and chaperones will be responsible for their own individually packaged meals, snacks, and water bottles. No sharing of food/drinks will be allowed between households. Any other supplies necessary for events (pool towels, lawn chairs, etc) will not be allowed to be shared between households. Each event will include designated areas for individual belongings.
ARCHDIOCESAN COVID-19 LIABILITY WAIVER Each student will need to have this liability waiver on file for the semester as well as each special or off-site activity. Parent signatures are required. If a student does not have this form filled out, they will be sent home.
