St. Michael Parish partners with East Alabama Services for the Elderly (EASE) to provide weekly meals for local seniors who need help paying for or preparing meals on their own. Individuals or ministries are able to sign up for one or multiple weeks.
St. Michael Parish has committed to provide 30 meals for the low-income elderly at EaseHouse each week. There are opportunities for three individuals or families to cook meals; volunteers can select to provide either 12 meals or 6 meals, or claim all 30.
Meals should be well-rounded, easy to eat, and able to travel in a clamshell to-go box (available from the church). Some sample meals include:
You may sign up for either 12 meals or 6 meals. Each meal should be able to fit completely inside a clamshell, styrofoam to-go container provided by the church.
Meals on Wheels suggests the following serving sizes for each meal:
Empty clamshell, to-go styrofoam containers can be picked up at the church office at any time. Filled boxes should be returned to the parish office by Tuesday at 10 AM.
