The Cursillo movement is a lay movement of the Church which through its Charism makes it possible to live what is fundamental for being a Christian, and to live it together. It helps people discover and fulfill their personal vocations and it promotes the creation of core groups of Christians who leaven their environments with the Gospel. The Cursillo movement promotes not only personal spiritual growth, but recognizes that we are called by our baptism to be active apostolic members of the Body of Christ. The full name is "Cursillo de Cristiandad" meaning "short course in Christianity."
Cursillo is a 3-day encounter with Christ for those over age 18. For more information, contact Celeste Boydston at [email protected]
Ultreya
Ultreya, meaning "onward," is the continuation of the Cursillo encounter in small group ministry. Ultreya meets monthly on the 2nd Tuesday at 7:00 PM, and anyone who has made Cursillo is welcome.
School of Leaders
The Auburn/Opelika Leader's School meets the 1st Thursday of each month from 5:45 – 7:00 PM. The school works within Ultreya's leadership to technically and spiritually prepare Cursillistas to actively live the Gospel message and share the Cursillo Movement. The responsibility rests on these participants to vertebrate Group Reunions and the Ultreya.
