There is great comfort in having the remains of a loved one at rest near their church. Family and friends can easily stop by for prayer or meditation on their way to or from Mass.
St. Michael owns and maintains a columbarium on its grounds since 2021 to provide a holy and dignified option for the placement of the cremated human remains of deceased parishioners and their families to assure that the placement of cremated remains is reverent and in conformity with the disciplines of the Roman Catholic Church and of the Parish Columbarium Rules and Regulations.
The Catholic Church’s Teaching on Cremation:
In May 1963, the Vatican’s Holy Office lifted the prohibition forbidding Catholics to choose cremation. This was incorporated into the revised Code of Canon Law of 1983 (#1176), as well as into the Order of Christian Funerals.
