As Our Lady of Guadalupe placed a bouquet of roses into the cloak of Juan Diego, a special pilgrimage has developed with eight, specially created, silver roses that now travel each year throughout Canada and the United States and eventually end up at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Monterrey, Mexico on December 12 to be present in the basilica to celebrate the feast day of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
This International Pilgrimage of the Silver Rose is sponsored by the Knights of Columbus and was started in 2001. St Michael Parish will be honored to have and display one of the eight “actual” silver roses that will be part of a prayer service to Our Lady of Guadalupe on September 10 at 6:30 PM in the church. During the month of September, our silver rose will be on a pilgrimage throughout the State of Alabama.
The prayer service will not only honor Our Lady of Guadalupe but also seek to promote a Culture of Life that is seriously challenged in our society today. The service will include the rosary, a Liturgy of the Word and an Act of Consecration to Our Blessed Mother.
It is very fitting that you join in this wonderful pilgrimage as we honor Our Lady of Guadalupe, who made known her will with the miracle of roses. Please, join the Knights of Columbus in the pilgrimage of the Silver Rose to honor Our Lady of Guadalupe.
