Preschool Director: Mrs. Cindy Wilton
Cindy Wilton was born in Mobile, Alabama and attended St. Dominic Catholic School. She earned her B.S. in Elementary Education from the University of South Alabama and M.S. and Ed. S. from Auburn University.She has 25 years of experience teaching in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th grades in the Auburn City Schools, and 22 years of teaching preschool ballet at Auburn Parks and Recreation Department. Currently, she is in her 28th year of education and her 4th year as preschool director for St. Michael Catholic Preschool.
PK 4/Kindergarten Teacher: Mrs. Mary Brown
Mrs. Mary Brown brings experience teaching preschool and other grade levels in both Catholic and public school settings. She was instrumental in the beginnings of SMCP and was Assistant Teacher the very first year we opened in 2013 with Mrs. Cindy Wilton. Currently, she teaches the PK 4 and Kindergarten students. Her specialty area is Science as she enjoys letting the children experience the "magic" in science experiments.
Kindergarten/PK 4 Teacher: Mrs. Malissa Lopez
This is Mrs. Malissa Lopez's first year at SMCP. Her experiences have been teaching in various public school settings including small group remedial reading for 1st and 2nd grade at Wrights Mill Road Elementary, assistant to special education at Auburn High School and 2nd grade in Montgomery Public Schools. Mrs. Lopez will be teaching our Kindergarten students and PK4 students.
PK 3 Teacher: Mrs. Elizabeth Walker
Mrs. Elizabeth Walker has a B.S. in Human Development and Family Studies has taught as a catechist for kindergarten on Sunday mornings here at St. Michael. She has also worked in a public school elementary setting in southwest Virginia and at an international summer camp in Maine. Mrs. Walker began as an assistant two years ago and served last year as the co-teacher for PK3. This year she will co-teach with Mrs. Babbitt in one of our PK 3 classes.
PK3 Teacher: Mrs. Janine Babbitt
Mrs. Janine Babbitt graduated from Auburn University, served formerly as the Director of Religious Education here at St. Michael Catholic Church. She was involved with the development of the preschool and has been a parent of SMCP since our first year of opening! We are excited to have her join our staff and co-teach the PK3 class with Mrs. Walker and assist with the music program. Mrs. Babbitt also is currently serving as the church’s Pastoral Care Coordinator.
PK3 Teacher: Mrs. Kelley Young
Mrs. Kelley Young is Co-teaching with Mrs. Park in our PK3 program. Mrs. Young not only helps her PK3 class with the academics, but her experience of teaching 13 years of group fitness shows she knows how to have some "jumping up and down" fun with the PK3 classes! She earned her Master of Arts from the University of Nebraska.
PK3 Teacher: Mrs. Carmen Park
Mrs. Carmen Park recently moved to Auburn from Fayetteville Georgia. She comes to SMCP with great recommendations from her former preschool. She is looking forward to co-teaching with Mrs. Young in the PK3 class. We consider it a bonus for her to work with our Kindergarten and PK4 students on Spanish. SPANISH NEWS THIS MONTH
Mrs. Beverly Ledoux worked for 35 years in various preschools. She began with SMCP as a volunteer Story Time Leader when we first opened. For the past 2 years, she has taken on the role of Librarian with all of our classes. She prepares wonderful literature activities and assists with small groups for the Kindergarten and PK3-4 classes.
Assistant Teacher/Preschool Front Desk Coordinator
Mrs. Monique Van Keuren began at SMCP as a parent the first year we opened. She wears many hats in the school. Mrs. Monique is the "smile" behind the sign in desk each day and can assist you with questions about the preschool. Her craftiness and organization skills has helped us to maintain the bulletin boards. She also leads the Kindergarten and PK4 classes for movement.
